“What about the places that you cannot reach by land?”
This is one question that some of the people in the know are asking me already. I would assume that it would be an obvious one but I guess not so let me address the concern right here.
Yes, I am on a journey to tour the world by car. By first and foremost, the mission is to DJ in as many places around the planet as possible. And some of the places may be so remote that getting to them by car is impossible.
Already getting from one continent to another will require me to have the vehicle shipped over the oceans (at this stage, I plan on using the same one for the full duration of the trip. I will write why in a future post).
One other related question that people may have is: “If a place is so remote, will people be interested in a DJ’s performance?”
The answer to that is very simple: everyone loves music. I lie, not everyone. I have met a man who has become a great mentor and friend who does not like music. Not at all! And it’s not a stunt or anything of that sort. He just does not like music. He does not dislike it but he does not like it either! Weird, huh?
So to get back to the two questions…
Places that I will not be able to reach by car, I will obviously catch a plane or a ferry or whatever mode of transportation that other humans use to get to that destination.
Sometimes, not driving but flying or catching a ferry will be best even if the destination can be reached by road. While I plan on making appearances in countries with questionable stability, I am not stupid enough to realise that driving in them alone can be fatal.
But still, I would want to perform there. In that case, I can see myself hoping on a plane, doing the gig, sightseeing a little and getting out.
But when I perform in places like Aruba or Antarctica (assuming they book me!), you can rest assured knowing that such DJ trips will be taken by air.
Fact of life: some of the most beautiful places in the world cannot be reached by car. Maybe that's why they are beautiful. *
My objective is to drive as much as possible. In my books, if I can drive more than 95% of the times and the rest is via planes, ferries, donkeys or camels, then it’s still good. It even spices up the trip because if I have to resort to such mode of transportations, the destination surely is going to be something worth the trip!
