Azee Project: JaBig’s 2010 Most Promising Producer

by JaBig on 4 February 2010

I was fortunate enough to meet Azee Project, a member of the respected Brazilian Soul Crew, in 2007 when I visited Brazil and was invited to DJ in their city in Sao Paulo. Azee Project, the soul crew and I hit it off right away. They showed me around their city, took me to their favourite restaurant and even introduced me to a local friend of theirs who catches the interest of everyone who meets him.

The most fascinating visit was a tour of the Brazilian Soul Crew studio. It boggled my mind because so much good music was coming from there. We recorded a radio show and eventually they proceeded on letting me hear some of their productions and even asked for my opinion on certain tracks and my opinion was “it”s good! let the world know about your music!”

Fast forward two years and Azee Project is involved in solo projects where he explores his dark yet samba-esque side. The Azee Project productions are better described as: Tech-House meets Samba. The kicks and high-hats would get the nod of approval of Techno fans and the seal of approval of Brazilian music pioneers themselves in one breath.

Unfortunately, I cannot share some of Azee Project music because of licensing issues but check out iTunes, Beatport and Traxsource for some of his original productions and remixes to see why this is a producer to watch for 2009.

If there’s anything I will take credit for is for pushing him to not shy away from his identity and include as much Brazilian music influence in his productions as possible instead of trying to dabble into African or even American influences because Brazil has contributed so much to music that it’s has become his duty to share the message with the world.

Azee Project is my most promising producer of 2009 and I can’t wait for the exclusive tracks that he will contribute to my World Tour mix compilation.

Vivaaaaa!!!
